Aretha Franklin Announces New Culinary Venture

Aretha Franklin recently revealed a new project she is working on that doesn't involve music: her own line of food. Over the holiday season, Walmart couldn't keep the Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pie on its shelves.

And there's a chicken and dressing dish, which Franklin insists will be "in a loaf pan, kind of like you've seen Sara Lee cakes".

Aretha Franklin attends the premiere of "Selma" at the Ziegfeld Theatre on December 14, 2014 in New York City.

"Miss Patti's gonna have to move that pie to the side", the Queen of Soul told Detroit's WDIV Local 4 news in an interview Wednesday. "They really have good food, because I go in there a lot", she said. She will also offer desserts.

Additionally, Franklin - who grew up in Detroit - is donating food and overnight hotel stays for 25-50 people in Flint, Michigan who are suffering through a water contamination crisis.

"Detroiters usually come to the aid of Detroiters - and Flint is certainly regarded as Detroit", Franklin says, while advising Flint residents to "hang in there".
