Louis van Gaal DIDN'T offer to resign following United's shambolic Old Trafford defeat against Southampton on Saturday.

According to the report, Van Gaal met with Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman, and offered to step down as manager despite having 18 months remaining on his contract.
Van Gaal replaced David Moyes at United in May 2014.
