Former Philadelphia Eagles coach hired by San Francisco 49ers

Former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is now with the San Francisco 49ers and he's probably going to take some of his Philadelphia assistants with him.

Kelly was previously making $6.5 million with the Eagles (he signed a five-year, $32.5 million deal when he left Oregon).

Chip Kelly's hire as coach of the 49ers has sparked debate over whether the move was the right one, in the wake of his final flameout of a season in Philadelphia.

Colin Kaepernick went from being the guy that led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl to being the guy that might possibly be released from his contract after the season is over. As he overhauled the roster, many of Kelly's personnel decisions backfired, leading to him being fired by the Eagles Dec. 29. I'm not trying to make excuses, but we weren't as bad as some of the numbers look. This team, just needs, if Chip Kelly can get Kaepernick back to the way he was, Armstead looked really good. Can Kelly save Kaepernick's career? .

This is a major sigh of relief for the 49ers and their fans, as many could be certain that the team has already gone through a massive makeover between the end of 2013 and 2015 and doesn't need any more major changes being made to the roster. That will not be the case in San Francisco, where general manager Trent Baalke maintains considerable power. After a very loud three years in Philadelphia that brought national headlines seemingly every week, Chip Kelly was sacked by the Eagles in December.

Former NRL superstar Hayne is now in Australia on holiday and will return to off-season training in April where he will get the chance to convince the 49ers coaching staff to keep him on. "Chip Kelly has that fast-paced offense that Colin would just flourish in".

"He gives me the ability to be myself, to run where I want to run at, and he gives me the ball enough", McCoy added.... "You can trust me that we are going to do everything that we can to get this team back where it belongs". The quarterback underwent shoulder surgery in November and likely won't fully recover from that until between March and May. Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter also interviewed last Thursday in Tampa, Florida.

A person with knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that Kansas City offensive coordinator Doug Pederson has accepted the Eagles' offer to become their head coach.
