Apple's New 4-Inch iPhone 5se Gets A Clearer Picture

According to a new report, the rumored 4 inch iPhone will be called iPhone 5se and will pack an Apple A9 processor coupled with M9 co-processor.

And if the past is anything to go by, the iPhone 7 will include a new A10 processor and Apple doesn't want the iPhone 5se's processor to be two generations behind within a 6 month window.

Equipping the iPhone 5se with A9 chip would not only boost the speed of the handset relative to the original 5S, but also enable an always-on Siri on it.

The web is now crawling with rumours about a smaller 4-inch iPhone, likely to be called the 5se. By resurrecting a smaller iPhone model, Apple is betting that there is enough interest to create a line of different-sized iPhones.

Some reports last week showed what claimed to be the long-rumoured iPhone 6c. Both phones have the same profile and a four-inch screen; but the iPhone 5SE has rounded edges, a Touch ID home button, and the on/off button placed on the right-hand side of the phone. If the new iPhone costs near or around the same what the iPhone 5s costs now, Apple will surely make a killing at Samsung's expense.

TechCrunch, which reported on the leak, said the new device is another indication of how Apple has changed throughout the years.

On the connectivity front, the iPhone 5se will come out supporting features such as, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi, which were again seen on the iPhone 6s. He further added that the new device is not a preview of the expected iPhone 7 alleged to release this year. 9to5Mac says the device will be announced in late March or early April, around the same time when Apple will likely unveil a new version of the Apple Watch.

Mark Gurman clarified in a 9to5Mac report that the purported 5SE is not a smaller version of the iPhone 6s, but an upgraded version of the existing iPhone 5s first released in 2013.
