Mich. governor activates National Guard to help with lead contamination relief

On the Flint water crisis, Snyder said the request for help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency wasn't delayed, it was part of the normal process in declaring an emergency.

"This request will identify federal agencies that have programs, authorities and/or technical expertise that could be utilized in the ongoing response and recovery efforts in Flint to be made available", according to a statement issued by the governor's office.

Rick Snyder has called in the state's National Guard to help with the alarming water crisis in Flint. More than 30 Guardsmen will be in Flint by Friday, joining the American Red Cross volunteers who have been bringing water bottles and filters door-to-door, CBS News reports.

Late Tuesday, the governor issued an executive order to activate the National Guard, the state's latest step in an effort to provide relief to Flint residents exposed to contaminated drinking water.

The city switched back to Detroit's water in October after blood test found led in more children; but concerns remain, including how badly corrosive water from the Flint River damaged aging pipes.

However, almost two years ago while in a state of financial emergency, in order to save money, the city decided that it would change its water supply to the notoriously filthy Flint River in order to save money while waiting for a state project to get Flint water from Lake Huron that was expected to take about two years.

The Free Press says criticism of Snyder and the state's response to the crisis continues.

"We don't want people to assume anything's good until we have a chance to do extensive testing and confirm that publicly", Snyder said.

During the late spring or early summer, "I asked the DEQ to come to the City of Flint to do the testing themselves and they refused", Overton said.

"You know, because it's an election year, we always hear Republicans talk about the glory of small government".

Cops warn of scammers as some people are selling water filters even though they are being distributed at no cost.

Mr Snyder has described the situation as a "crisis" and declared an emergency last week. Then, in January 2015, Flint violated the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act because its water contained high levels of total trihalomethanes or THM, byproducts of the water treatment process that, over time, can increase the risk of cancer and cause health problems of the liver, kidneys and central nervous system. And that announcement itself came several weeks after Flint officials had already declared a state of emergency on the city level. "We see the consequences of lead poisoning a lot later", Hanna-Attisha, told ABC News last month.

Mortal Kombat X's Next DLC and XL Edition Not Coming to PC
While this seems unlikely, it would at least reassure PC gamers that Warner Bros. has forgotten about them completely. The netcode for Mortal Kombat X has not met with expectations, leading to broken online multiplayer since launch.
