Cruz Hits Trump as Pro-Abortion, Pro-Gay, Pro-Cuomo

Trump slammed Cruz on Twitter throughout Saturday on a host of issues, including the Texas senator's "New York values" comment and New York Times reports about loans he received during his 2012 Senate campaign that he did not disclose.

"Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology", Cruz said, "and I'm happy to apologize".

"I immediately thought of the World Trade Center, and the bravery of New Yorkers and the genius of New Yorkers to be able to take that whole section and rebuild after the tragedy", he said.

Donald Trump has ramped up his battle against Ted Cruz, one of his closest competitors in the Republican presidential nomination race. And I've never seen anything like it. And the people in NY fought and fought and fought, and we saw more death and even the smell of death; nobody understood it. And it was with us for months: the smell, the air.

Who do you think will win the Iowa caucus? But speaking to reporters at a church not far from Charlotte on Saturday, Cruz, who once declined to attack Trump, shed any caution he may have had about laying into his top rival.

Cruz also faced fallout Friday from his accusation during the debate that Trump embodies "New York values," which the Texan described as "socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay-marriage" and focused on money and the media.

He said donors in NY should not give to Cruz.

"And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved NY and loved New Yorkers. Number one, I feel guilty because I'm $35 million under budget", he said.

Trump said the senator's remark about Trump's NY values, which was a dig at the perceived liberal tendencies, had been disgraceful.

"He's a total hypocrite", Trump said of Cruz on ABC.

"A lot of people think that was a shameful chapter in American history, though", Tapper said. "So, he'll take NY money; he'll take a big loan from Goldman Sachs, and then he turns around and attacks the people of NY".

September 11 widower James Smith knows something about NY values.

Cruz has distributed the attack clip online - and also referenced the interview during the Republican Party debate this week, in another attack on Trump. About 30 percent of New Yorkers will tell you they are conservatives.
