Miss Universe 2015: horrible blunder of Steve Harvey

Host Steve Harvey announced the lovely Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo was the victor of the prestigious pageant, and it was an attractive moment.

According to the pageant, a misreading led the announcer to read Miss Colombia as the victor before they took it away and gave it to Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Beloved comedian/actor/author/philanthropist Steve Harvey became the laughing stock of the world last night after he mistakenly crowned the wrong woman as Miss Universe.

And then, a few minutes later, Steve Harvey returned to the stage to correct his apparent mistake. We have it straight from the other contestants who saw the teleprompter; Miss Philippines was the rightful victor of the Miss Universe 2015 title.

The crown was removed from Arevalo's head and placed on the mystified Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the contestant from the Philippines.

"Everything happens for a reason so I'm happy for all that I did", Gutierrez said.

In the caption, Steve revealed that he'd also had the opportunity to say sorry to Miss Colombia. Despite the total fail, Miss Colombia remained very graceful during her post-show interviews.

Germany refused to explain more about her previous statement, but added: "We really like Colombia and we're really happy for her".

Gutierrez was incorrectly named the victor before Wurtzbach was given the Miss Universe crown. The tweet which he later deleted, read: "I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians (sic) and Miss Columbia (sic)".

During the blunder, a mystified Wurtzbach appeared stunned as she walked to the front of the stage.

"They were all wonderful", Harvey wrote later.
